With reform comes county, state, and federal requirements. In keeping with our goal of supplying the Imperial Valley and beyond with the best produce, it's our aim to be educated and to implement these reforms. Below is a few of the integral resources we provide our farmers so they can do just that.
Produce Pinning Map
The Produce Pinning Map is available to post produce fields with appropriate distance requirements in Imperial County. Participation is voluntary, and IVVGA/ICFB has no legal authority over posted locations. The purpose of the map is for all growers and sheep herders to review the locations before “sheeping” their field. This includes the transportation of sheep to and from fields.
LETTUCE MOSAIC VIRUS TESTING
The County of Imperial requires that all lettuce seed sold to be planted in Imperial County is tested for lettuce mosaic disease. As of December 31, 2017, the following seed samples tested positive and cannot be sold or planted in Imperial County.
CARROT and Broccoli Seed ISOLATION MAPs
Carrot & Brassica Seed Isolation Maps allow seed companies and growers to confirm distance restrictions for the varieties are being met. IVVGA has no legal authority over posted locations. All pinning will be done by Imperial Valley Veg Growers staff.
ONION ISOLATION MAP
The Onion Isolation Map allows seed companies and growers to confirm distance restrictions on pollination and varieties are being met. IVVGA has no legal authority over posted locations. All pinning will be done by Imperial Valley Veg Growers staff.
